How would you help people deal with outsiders coming onto their land?
Q. many years ago people started to go to lands that weren't theirs...how would you deal with the outsiders coming onto your land to make the lives of your people for the better... what would you suggest? other then violence

A. Some people will always be there, who would prefer to leave their homelands and settle somewhere else. And if you think back, there is no homeland for anybody because at the beginning, people were migratory. A few hundred years back, there were no American in America. So what right do we have today to object outsiders, if they prefer to settle in "my country" ? Just because I came earlier and settled there ? I think the whole earth belongs to human beings and its resources should be shared equally by everybody. That should be the basic freedom and fundamental right of every individual. Movement of anybody should not be restricted by political boundaries. As long as they do not destroy the environment, there is really nothing to object.

A. I'm not a fan at all, but I say cast Zac Efron. He's young and good looking, probably cast him as Soda or something. And I thought Pony looked a lot like him in the movie. Also, just cast a bunch of talented young actors of our time.

A. From what we see Soda doesn't see him doing anything great with himself. He thinks he will fix cars for the rest of his life. He thinks he's dumb. He mustn't think to highly of himself after Sandy cheated on him also. He also is between Darry and Ponyboy... On a random side note I do know The S.E, Hinton hadn't said this would happen for sure but she had thought Soda would go to Vietnam and would die there. Again she had written it in stone, but I found it interesting The very begging (from Ponyboy's view) "Soda tries to understand, at least, which is more than Darry does. A. It's "Gloria", but it's by Van Morrison, not The Doors version, which is very different. To what extent do outsiders judge England by our soccer?
Q. Soccer in England is a working class game, but outsiders don't realise this, and so presumeably think the players and managers who are interviewed on TV represent a fair cross-section of our society. They must think we're all working class and inclined to hooliganism to boot. Erudite, please be more erudite. I didn't accuse the players of hooliganism, tho many are guilty of acting injured (almost as bad as hooliganism in the rugbyman's book). Nor did I say all Brits like soccer - only the working class.

I read it 3 times. lets see. there is the 1st day with the movie theatre where he runs away. he is at the church for nearly aa week so 6-7 days maybe less about 4 then theres about 2 days before the rumble then the day of the rumble then e was in bed for a week then soda ran off so total probably 17 or 18 maybe 15 at the least.

A. Movies are usually played in cycles, I find. They're played a bunch of times, then they seemingly drop off the face of the earth until the next cycle, which might be a couple months later or many months later. I've definitely seen The Outsiders on a retro movie channel (channel 225 for me) many times, but that cycle ended, it seems. So, you just gotta wait 'til it makes its next round.

A. I've found Rome's tolerance (and cunning!) was their success with the Empire..following outright manpower of course. The success in battles as they grew came from the huge pool of soldiers they kept gaining as countries were incorporated into the empire (countries weren't always 'full' members) and people became eligable for service in the army. 'conquered' countries would agree to such terms because they had no choice really - though the romans put it to them more subtly than this. success afterwards came with the Romans attitude of tolerance and assimilation - people largely kept their own traditions and customs, even religions, but these were worked in with the traditions of the Romans.. so really t he term 'Roman' becomes quite a… [cont.]

A. I dont think that their personalitys r that different, i know that they look nothing like they should in the movie. Two-Bit should have red hair and side burns, Sodapop should have blode-brown hair. Littkt things like this, its 2 confusing with them all looking the same... I LUV the book, 1 of mi all time favs... Is The Outsiders really going to be remade?

A. do you mean remade with new actors or remastered? in 2005 (i only remember this because of hurricane katrina and i was evacuated) they came out with a new version which included all of the book and some extra stuff. i bought that copy and its really good. but its the same actors and stuff but when they came out with the movie the studio wanted the director to finish so they had to cut out parts to get it out faster but they recorded a version that went along with the book. i hope this helped.
